Halloween Candy

Have what you're craving without wrecking your diet this holiday.

Dessert is often taboo on diets and fitness gurus will preach extreme lifestyles that are hard for an average person to execute on normal day, on halloween where many of us are already on the go, adding candy could be stacking the deck against you.

Everyone is doing their best to be their healthiest so how can we have our treats and meet our goals?

What are the best and worst candies?

“Mini” Candy Doesn’t have a Nutrition label

Knowing what your food is made of is essential in keeping yourself healthy.

On average a person uses 100 calories to move a mile with fluctuations for speed and body composition if you’re on a trick or treating expedition you could be in the negative for the day. Will power is a finite resource and as we get tired sugar is the instant energy the brain craves. By planning densely nutritious snacks for yourself, measuring portions, you will be successful through the entire holiday season.

When it comes to candy, there are clear winners for what the best kinds of treats are. Real food, real sugar, and made without artificial anything. The first step away from this is to know most popular candy is made by a few companies using the same chemicals across all their brands.(see “Illusion of Choice” below)

If you’re wondering what to give your trick-or-treaters with this new information some exciting options are;

  • Stickers

  • Play-Doh

  • crayons & coloring books(Blick and Michael’s have kid’s kids)

  • glow sticks

  • vampire teeth

  • bouncy balls in festive colors

  • fun erasers

  • mood rings/spider rings

  • crystals

  • silly putty

  • temporary tattoos

Anything that would be fun in a prize chest would make a great treat for kids if you’re in a pinch and the healthy candy is hard for you to find. The benefit of gifting non-food items avoids food allergies or sensitivities which more and more people struggle with.

If you want to give out edible treats you have to read the packaging to know they’re safe. Happy Halloween!

“Illusion of Choice

“"The Illusion of Choice." It shows how a tremendous number of products we buy, all go back to just 10 companies. Many of these companies, either through their subsidiaries, or through the giant parent companies support unethical and immoral practices. These practices can include using GMO products' specifically fighting against letting us know that they are being used so we can make a free choice; unethical labor practices and marketing; misleading advertising and marketing campaigns; and financially supporting unethical and corrupt politicians who have not the interests of the people in their hearts, but their pocketbooks as the top priority.”
