Better Hydration Begins with Better Water

Hydration

Knowing what’s in our water is the first step to making it better.

Everyone strives to be healthy and drinking water is ubiquitous advice in the health space. Clean water is something most of us are lucky to have flowing out of our sink and have never thought twice about. In some cases our water is not as clean as we think which can deeply impact our health and the animals we share our planet with. Water can be contaminated with various impurities, including bacteria, viruses, chemicals, and heavy metals. Filtering water is one of the most effective ways to remove these contaminants and ensure that you have access to clean and safe drinking water. However, while filtering water can remove harmful contaminants, it can also remove necessary minerals that are essential for hydration. In this article, we will discuss how to filter water in the most effective way while ensuring that you get the necessary minerals for hydration.

Determine the source of your water

The first step in filtering water effectively is to determine the source of your water. If you are getting your water from a municipal water supply, you can obtain a water quality report from your local water authority. This report will give you an idea of the contaminants present in your water. If you are using well water, you should test your water for contaminants regularly.

Choose the right filter

Choosing the right filter is essential to ensure that you remove the contaminants that are present in your water. The type of filter you choose will depend on the contaminants present in your water. The most common types of filters include activated carbon filters, reverse osmosis filters, and ceramic filters. Activated carbon filters are effective at removing chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and sediment. Reverse osmosis filters are excellent at removing dissolved solids, including minerals, heavy metals, and salts. Ceramic filters are effective at removing bacteria, parasites, and sediment.

Mineralize your water

While filtering water is essential to remove contaminants, it can also remove necessary minerals that are essential for hydration. To ensure that you are getting the necessary minerals for hydration, you can add mineral drops to your filtered water. Mineral drops contain essential minerals, including calcium, magnesium, and potassium, which are necessary for hydration.

Consider alkaline water

Alkaline water has a pH level higher than 7 and is believed to have health benefits. Alkaline water is believed to neutralize acid in the body, which can help prevent disease. However, research on the health benefits of alkaline water is limited. If you choose to drink alkaline water, you can add baking soda to your filtered water to increase the pH level.

  1. Drink enough water

It is essential to drink enough water to stay hydrated. The amount of water you need to drink depends on various factors, including your age, weight, activity level, and climate. In general, you should aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

Filtering water is an effective way to remove contaminants and ensure that you have access to clean and safe drinking water. Choosing the right filter and mineralizing your water can help you get the necessary minerals for hydration. Alkaline water is an option, but research on its health benefits is limited. Drinking enough water is essential to stay hydrated and maintain optimal health.

The EPA is as almost as weak as the FDA and you’ll find in the federal Safe Water Drinking Act(1974) the standards for dangerous contaminants is limited to the types like; lead, arsenic, copper, or mercury and the organization’s failure to keep up with science has been impacting public health in both visible and yet to be determined ways. Chemical pollutants and pharmaceuticals have been a long foreseen danger with adequate time to circumvent the effects we are already seeing in the general population.

Our dependence on plastics has infiltrated our drinking water and the fish that reside in it. The volume of micro-plastics the average person consumes in a week is equivalent to the size of a credit card.

Should the EPA miraculously manage its corporate adversaries they may make a public statement about citizen dumping which could never account for the damage done by heartless companies over hundreds of years. It isn’t the regular gardener’s pesticides poisoning you, it’s Monsanto-Bayer. If we are going to fix the broken system we need to aim at the poison. Pharmaceutical dumping, old lead pipes, and pesticides. The average citizen has no blame here but our power is in our actions taken toward our own health.

I found checking out my water supply eye opening and maybe you will too, follow the link below to Environmental Working Group’s Tap Water Database and add your zip code. Then  you can purchase your water filter based on your needs.
